Best Takeout Food in Harrowgate, Kensington, and Port Richmond

Hidden in Kensington, there are so many restaurants that are serving this part of town several staples in Philadelphia. Many Southeastern Asian restaurants, petite little coffee shops, and aesthetically looking New American meals. Take a look at our list of some highlighted restaurants to order take out (or delivery!) from.

Hinge Cafe

After they began as a coffee house in 2004, with their loyal customers’ support, Hinge Cafe grew to where it is today. Hinge is a go-to brunch spot for the Kensington neighborhoods. Things like their french toast with pecan butter, breakfast skillet, cajun shrimp & grits, and turkey sausage benedict are some of the items that fly off their menus. 

Circles + Squares

Choosing doesn’t matter at Circles + Squares, because this will be one of the top pizza places in Philadelphia. This place is a small no-frills spot, with their tasty Detroit style type crust – but at the same time tastes like focaccia pizza. Order the circle White and the Square cheese. The white pizza has a stronger flavor and goes amazing with the thin crust. The cheese pizza square crust is perfectly balanced between chewy and crunch. 

Cook and Shaker

Cook & Shaker is located right next to a residential area of the neighborhood serving up elevated comfort food. A simple menu, you would be surprised by how delicious their food really is. Some notable menu items include their veggie Italian, polenta fries, cook and shaker tots, pierogies and grilled kielbasa, and zeppoles.

Vientiane Bistro

Vientiane Bistro’s main focus is on providing comfort food in a very laid back atmosphere, serving authentic Lao and Thai cuisine. Some of their main dishes include; crispy Naam salad, green papaya salad, Lao grilled sausages, king soup (khaopoon), and Laab curries.

Port Richmond

Nemi Restaurant 

Nemi Restaurant focuses on authentic Mexican cuisine, using traditional ingredients and techniques. Nemi is one of the hidden gems in Port Richmond. A new Mexican addition to Philadelphia, with their menu including authentic Mexican cuisine. On their menu, they have Elote, Baja Baja tacos, Chicken Roja, and Tiradito Al Pastor Ceviche,

Mercer Cafe

This little spot in Port Richmond serves simple, fresh home-cooked breakfast and lunch dishes. It has a cozy, clubby atmosphere and a strong kitchen for classic and neo-classic menus focused on the morning and afternoon meal. Some of the neighborhood favorites include challah french toast, eggs benedict, grilled chicken & Abruzzi, and a farmers frittata.

Byrne's Tavern

If you’re looking for classic bar food takeout while having a night drinking some beer or wine, order takeout at Bryne’s Tavern. A classic Irish tavern inside and out, with good bar food. With menu items like Broccoli bites, Potato Logs, "Bobby chez" Crabcakes, Pizza, and Steamed Clams – you can’t go wrong with pairing it with a good Irish beer!

New Wave Cafe

Port Richmond is known for its polish community, with “Little Poland” it’s for certain that they would have delicious polish food in the heart of the neighborhood. With delicious black sausage, beet salad, potato pancakes, kielbasa and potato and cheese pierogies on their menu, there are plenty of options to choose.

Tacconelli's Pizzeria

Tacconelli's is known in Port Richmond to be one of the most classic Philadelphia pizza joints. Their pizza is plain and simple in the best way possible. With a thin-crust style pizza, you have to order your dough to reserve at 11 am the day you want to order it – as soon as they’re out, they will stop answering the phone!

Harrowgate

Cibao Fried Chicken Restaurant

This Dominican restaurant is known by locals as being one of the best in North Philadelphia. With their Latin American eats & Dominican specialties, some of their menu items include Cuchifrito, Tostones, Rice platters with your choice of meat, Pastelillos, and Potato balls. 

Cafe Mi Quang

Taste their bowl of noodles, and it will feel as though you traveled into Vietnam. This little gem is known in this neighborhood for its Mi Quang and is the only restaurant in Philadelphia serving up this classic Vietnamese dish. Other items on their menu include Banh Mi, Bun bo hue, Bun Cha Gio, and Pho!

Pupuseria Sabor Latino II

This is a little Salvadoran restaurant that brings locals from all over. There are many items to choose from, but the pupusas are the main attraction! Some of their menu items include Camarones, Churrasco Guatemalteco, Horchata, Yuca con Chicharron.
